(NAPSI)-To help save the lives of severely injured children and to help
those who survive on the road to recovery, the nation's most comprehensive
pediatric trauma institute has been established by the The Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma will focus on key areas in
treatment, education and training, research and prevention of pediatric
trauma. Initial funding for the Institute came from NASCAR champion team
owner Richard Childress and his family, which donated $5 million to Wake
Forest Baptist to initiate the project scheduled to get under way later this
year. "Accidental injury is the No. 1 killer of children in this
nation," said J. Wayne Meredith, M.D., chief of surgery at Wake Forest
