BOOKS WORTH READING

Louder Than Words

(NAPSI)-An informative new book shares the story of one mother's inspiring journey to find a cure for her son's autism.

The journey started one traumatic morning when actress Jenny McCarthy discovered that her son, Evan, was having a seizure in his bed and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Doctor after doctor misdiagnosed Evan until--after many harrowing, life-threatening episodes--one doctor diagnosed Evan as autistic.

The book, "Louder Than Words" (Plume), follow's McCarthy as she discovers an intense combination of behavioral therapy, diet and supplements that became the key to saving her son.

With sheer determination, sweat, tears and controversial (but proven) methods, McCarthy has dramatically improved her son's diagnosis; he currently attends a mainstream school, interacting with children and adults as if he were a typical kid.

Autism currently affects one in 150 children. The book sheds much-needed light on autism through McCarthy's own heartbreak and struggle, and provides an ultimately hopeful example of how parents can shape their children's lives and happiness.
