CONTEST CORNER

See The Future Of Sci-Fi

(NAPSI)—If you or someone you know has ever fantasized about being a published fantasy or science fiction author or illustrator, a new contest may be good news for you.

The Contest

The Writers of the Future Contest was created by famed author L. Ron Hubbard in 1983 so aspiring writers of speculative fiction could get a much-needed break. Due to the success of the Writing Contest, the Illustrators of the Future Contest was created in 1988.

There’s no entry fee and all rights in the story remain the property of the author. Any type of science fiction, fantasy and dark fantasy is welcome. The entries are judged by professional authors and artists.

In addition to recognition and prize money—upward of $1 million over the years—contest entries can participate in an intensive mentoring process that has proven very successful. The 392 past winners of the Writing Contest have published 1,150 novels and 4,450 short stories. The 322 past winners of the Illustrating Contest have produced over 4,500 illustrations in books, comic books, TV shows and movies.

The Book

Now, this 34th volume of “L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future” features the work of the 24 award-winning new authors and illustrators from this year’s contests. Edited by David Farland, with cover artwork by Ciruelo, the book also has stories and articles written by renowned writers Orson Scott Card, Brandon Sanderson, Jody Lynn Nye, Jerry Pournelle, Ciruelo and Echo Chernik.
