If your rechargeable battery will no longer hold a charge, don’t throw it away...recycle it. A recent survey, sponsored by the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC), found that respondents power their daily lives with an average of five cordless products. This includes cell phones, cordless power tools, and even electric toothbrushes. These products contain rechargeable batteries, and while they hold up to 1,000 charges, they eventually run out of “juice.” When this happens, don’t throw them away—recycle! Call 1-800-8BATTERYor go to www.rbrc.org to find the nearest drop-off location. But while your batteries are still alive, these tips from RBRC can help you get the most out of your rechargeables: Recharge batteries when they are almost fully discharged. Never return a fully-charged battery to the charger for an extra boost. Never leave your cordless product in the charger when not charging, unless approved by the manufacturer’s instructions. And remember,if it’s rechargeable, it’s recyclable!
