Conference Includes A Film Festival (NAPSA)—In a unique and multifaceted approach to youth issues, The Buckeye Ranch,a nonprofit children’s mental health facility in Grove City, Ohio, runs a two-day conference each year that includes a film festival. The film festival is a showcase for elementary, middle and high school-aged The Buckeye Ranch Film Festival celebrates the creative approaches to preventing violence through student-made films. students from across the country to offer their views on the topics and issues they face. It’s all part of a three-pronged approachto the prevention of problems such as violence, substance abuse, drinking, smoking and eating disorders. During this year’s Youth Summit, which is also part of the two-day conference, Antwone Fisher spoke to foster children across Ohio. Fisher, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, survived 14 years of abuse in the foster care system and become a successful novelist and screenwriter. He is the author of Finding Fish and the subject of the recently released self-titled motion picture directed by and starring Denzel Washington. The Prevention Conference is part of the Buckeye Ranch’s many award-winning violence prevention efforts. This year, 3,000 students participated in the film festival.
