Children And Free Admission For Children All Summer (NAPSA)—Avariety of new programs and opportunities that will help families immerse themselves in the art, history, and science of glass can now be enjoyed at a terrific museum— the Corning Museum of Glass. The Hot Glass Show Preview will add a “touchable” component to the Hot Glass Show,a live, narrated, hot-glassblowing performance that runs all day, every day. The Hot Glass Show will also cater to aspiring designers this summer with the return of You Design It; We MakeIt. Offered three times daily, the program encourages Museum visitors to draw an object they would like to see created on the Hot Glass Stage in a spontaneous, impromptu demonstration. In addition to the Hot Glass Preview, families will find exploring the Museum’s Glass Innovation Center more engaging, with the introduction of a new layer of fun interactive elements that encourage exploration and experimentation. The Glass Innovation Center showcases innovations that have changed the way we live—including the light bulb, the automatic bottle-making machine, telescopes, and fiber optics—and features a working submarine periscope, walk-on glass floors, flight simulator mirrors, and touch-screen interactive displays. The Walk-in Workshop recently introduced three new opportunities for guests to work with molten glass themselves and make their own glass souvenirs. New projects include the opportunity to blow a Romanbottle, fuse the border for a mirror, and sandcast handprints in glass. These projects are in addition to the current opportunities, which include options for pulling a glass flower, flameworking glass beads, fusing glass plates and picture frames, and sandblasting original designs rances/Esto ae The Glass Museum houses one of the world’s most extensive glass collections and has adopted a “kids free” policy all summer. on tumblers. The exhibition, “Robert Willson: A Texan in Venice,” with its bold, colorful, intriguing sculptures, is a wonderful opportunity for families to share what happens when a trailblazing Texan discovers the sophisticated glass traditions of Venice: the boundaries of contemporary American art and culture are stretched, creating some of the most unconventional glass of the 20th century. The synergy created by additional family programming will continue with the introduction of a new promotion. From July 1 through Labor Day, children will be admitted to the Museum for free. “Kids Free All Summer” applies to children and teens (17 and under) with adult paid admission. The Corning Museum of Glass is an independent, nonprofit, educational institution dedicated to the art, history, research, and exhibition of glass. It is open daily from 9-5.
