Understanding Cousteau’s LegacyLives On (NAPSA)—Thenext time you're awash about where to gofor a terrific trip, consider this: the bustling, sunny seaport Hampton, Va., is now hometo the Cousteau Society and a waterfront gallery featuring Cousteau pioneering underwater photography. fe: From a shark cage to a jeep dented in a rhinoceros charge, you canputyourself in Cousteau’s flippers. Free and open Monday through Saturday, the gallery features the work of founder Jacques-Yves Cousteau using photography, artifacts, ship models and film footage. Visitors travel through history with artifacts from Cousteau expeditions such as a shark cage, decompression chamber, a minisub, and a jeep with dents in the side from a rhinoceros charge. The attraction is a lively compliment to other downtown activities such as harbor tours, historic Hampton Carousel, the Virginia Air & Space Center and the Riverside IMAX Theater. “We are hoping the opening of this center will introduce ourvisitors to the wonders of the Ocean Worlds, and in turn inspire them to protect the environment in which they live,” said Robert Steele, vice president of finance for the Cousteau Society.
