The beauty of Dutch flowers may be enjoyed in New York City and at Holland’s spectacular Flo- riade 2002. The first display contains more than a million daffodils that will bloom in “Fields of Gold” in New York City, donated by the city of Rotterdam and Dutchcitizens to help revive the spirits of New Yorkers after the tragic events of Sept. 11. The bulbs have been planted throughout the city in the memory of the World Trade Center victims. Many grace the “Gardens of Remembrance”that are part of the restored Historic Battery Park Upper Promenade, rededicated on Dec. 11, 2001, the three-month anniversary of the World Trade Center attack. The Netherlands is well known for its beautiful flowers, producing approximately nine billion flower bulbs annually. Every Ten Years They are also hometo a horticultural exhibition that may only be viewed every ten years. Floriade 2002 is said to be the most beautiful garden in Holland. The exhibit, which may be seen from April 6 through October in a park near Amsterdam, is expected to attract millions of visitors, including many New Yorkers who helped plant or enjoy Dutch daffodils in the city’s Gardens of Remembrance.
