(NAPSA)—Womenhave come a long way whenit comesto earning equal pay for equal work—or have they? New research by the American Association of University Women Educational Foundation shows that a year out of college, women working full time already earn less than their male colleagues. Ten years after graduation, the pay gap widens. The findings of a new report sug- gest changes should be made to make workplaces more equitable for women. The Behind the Pay Gap report also shows that 10 years after graduation, college-educated men working full time have more authority in the workplace than do their female counterparts. “The persistence of the pay gap suggests that educational achievement alone will not close the gap,” said AAUW Director of Research Catherine Hill. “We need to make workplaces more family-friendly and reduce sex segregation in education and in the workplace.” For more information about the pay gap and other issues affecting women today, please visit www.aauw.org.
