COMPLETEA LIFE. COMPLETE YOUR OWN. ADOPTA CHILD. (NAPSA)—Oneof the most fulfilling things a person can dois to be a parent—especially to a child whoneeds a family. Children in foster care need the love and guidance a family can give them but unfortunately, many neverget to have that experience. Each year, more than 24,000 of these children age out of the system without ever having been placed with permanent, loving families. According to the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), more than 115,000 children in the foster care system are currently waiting to be adopted. The majority of children in foster care (47%) are 9 and older and are children of color. 15 percent are Hispanic. A new multimedia campaign wants to inform the Hispanic community about this issue and encourage the adoption of children in the U.S. foster care system, particularly children 9 and older whoare currently waiting. The campaign is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and HumanServices, in partnership with the Advertising Council and the Collaboration to AdoptUsKids. Public service announcements created by the campaign highlight the emotional and psychological rewards of adoption through foster care by showcasing everyday yet special family moments.
