Sponsored in partnership with the National Football League (NFL) and CBS Sports, the “Staples Coach of the Week program” will award each of 17 accredited K-12 schools a $5,000 gift certificate and a visit from the head coach of their region’s NFL team. Here’s how it works: Each week during football season, a panel of NFL representatives will choose one head coach whose leadership proves exemplary and merits the honor of being named “Staples Coach of the Week.” One random entry submitted on behalf of a school in the winning coach’s region will be drawn, and one lucky school will be the recipient of the prize. Both the coach and the school will be announced the following Sunday during “The NFL Today” on CBS. “This is a wonderful program that takes the gameoff the playing field and brings it into the classroom by rewarding schools with inspirational visits from coaches,” said Coach Tony Dungy of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Coach of the Week winner. “It gives us a chance, as players and coaches, to support schools and academics and it gives Staples a chance to show their commitment to the community.
