You Can Nominate And Vote (NAPSA)—For seventy-four years, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has marched down the streets of New York City and into the heart of America. This year, you can help elect the “best kid” in the country to kick off the Parade in New York City. For the first time in the Parade’s history, the public can nominate students at the head of their classes and give them the chance to head one of America’s most famousevents. To highlight this year’s historic celebration, one child, selected through the “Go to The Head of the Parade” campaign, presented by Macy’s, in association with Yahoo! Inc., will join in cutting the ribbon that signals a colorful confetti release and the start of the 75th Annual march to Herald Square, and help lead the procession down Broadway—LIVE on national TV. “For more than 70 years, Macy’s has given people a tradition, which both celebrates America and opens the holiday season,” said Linda Bennett, senior marketing man- ager, Yahoo!. “Yahoo! and Macy’s are making it possible for America to give one special student the opportunity of a lifetime—to lead the Parade in recognition of their accomplishments and experience the Parade and New York City in a whole new way.” To enter, students aged 13 to 18, in good scholastic standing and residing within the 50 United States and/or District of Columbia, must be nominated by a teacher, civic, or community leader (non-family member) for deeds that made a difference in the student’s school or community. The entry must include a short essay (no more than 150 words) about why the nominee should “Go to The Head of the Parade.” Entries will be accepted until Monday, October 1 at 11:59 PM.
