(NAPSA)—If your Little League Baseball team displays determination, team spirit and a positive attitude, you and your teammates could win a trip to the 2002 Little League World Series Championships Aug. 22-25 in Williamsport, Penn. The winning team in the contest, sponsored by the makers of OxiClean Multi-Purpose Stain Remover, will also be treated to a special lunch hosted by Major League Baseball Hall-of-Famer and former Little League player, Jim Palmer. “Little League Baseball helped me establish the foundation of values that would later allow me to reach my full potential—as a ballplayer and as a citizen,” said Palmer, retired Cy Young Awardwinning pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles. “I’m proud to help encourage the development of these values in today’s Little Leaguers through this award recognition.” The OxiClean Little League True Grit Award will be presented to the team that perseveres with a winning attitude, regardless of whether it has a winning season. To earn the title, individual Little League baseball players must submit a 200-word essay, describing how his or her team worked together to overcome obstacles or displayed determination in the face of defeat. The writer whose essay is judged to be the best will earn his or her team the True Grit Award, to be presented by Palmer during a special ceremony prior to the Little League World Series. Essays should be mailed to “Little League True Grit Contest,” P.O. Box 44159, Denver, CO 80201. All essays should include a guardian’s name, player’s name and age, address, team name, league name, daytime/evening phone numbers and coach’s name.
