“Young Angels” Take Flight to Help the World (NAPSA)—A group of young “angels” were recently honored by Jane Kaczmarek, star of “Malcolm in the Middle,” for their extraordinary giving spirit. These children were selected as the winners in the 2003 Angel Soft Angels in Action Awards for their outstanding commitment to community service. The star-studded ceremony was a chance for winnersto celebrate their work and further encourage youth volunteerism. Each winner received a $5,000 cash award, a year’s supply of Angel Soft Toilet Paper and their nameetched in the stars forever. From collecting Thanksgiving turkeys for needy families to organizing an annual charitable symphony, the following winners were selected for being role models of youth volunteerism: Sondra Clark, 138, Bellingham, Wash.: Sondra is an author, official child ambassador for Childcare International and has raised more than $65,000 for poverty-stricken children. Angels get star treatment and $5,000 for their outstanding commitment to community service. Jacob Komar, 11, Burlington, Conn.: Jacob’s “Computers for Communities” program updates and rebuilds computers for families in need. Anthony Leanna, 12, Suamico, Wis.: Anthony’s “Heavenly Hats” project collects hats for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatments. Daniel and Elizabeth Nally, 15 and 13, Westwood, Mass.: This Kristina and Liza Giangrande, 11 and 8, Andover, Mass.: Kristina and Liza organized “The brother and sister team started “Turkeys ‘R’ Us,” a program that collects Thanksgiving turkeys for needy families. children. Anna Goddu, 16, New York, Calif.: Brant’s “Read All Over” program collects and donates used children’s books to classroom * Devon Green, 12, Stuart, rior, Ariz.: Ruben’s “Bubble Gum Blow-Off’ raises money for Cystic Winter Warmth Project” by collecting hats and mittens for needy NY: Anna’s “Digital Technology for Kids”classes help students learn about computers.
