Letter Carriers From Across the Country Collect Food Donations for the Hungry (NAPSA)—On Saturday, May 8, 2004, the National Association of Letter Carriers will conduct its 12th annual food drive in an effort to Stamp Out Hunger! Considered the largest single-day food drive in the country, the Stamp Out Hunger! effort involves the nation’s 240,000 letter carriers who will collect non-perishable food items to benefit food banks and pantries across America. Last year, with donations from millions of generous Americans, more than 60 million pounds of food were delivered to help those in need. This year, Campbell Soup Company is once again helping kick off the drive by donating 1 million poundsof food. Participating in the food drive is easy. Just leave a sturdy bag of non-perishable boxed or canned food items, such as soup, pasta, canned vegetables and fruits, cereal or rice, next to your mailbox before your letter carrier arrives on Saturday, May 8. Your letter carrier will do the rest, collecting and delivering your donation to a food bank or pantry in your community. Campbell Soup Company and the United States Postal Service are sponsoring special postcards being mailed to nearly 105 million U.S. homes to remind people about this important initiative.
