Achievement’ Honoring Business Leaders Who Inspire (NAPSA)—When it comes to inspiration, today’s teensstill look to their parents and teachers. According to a new survey, when asked to select their number-one role model, 28 percent of students said “parents” while 11 percent answered “teacher.” The results are from a national Achievement/Harris Interactivepoll. It was this capacity that teachers have to influence students in a positive way that led Achievement to bring businesspeople into the classroom to extol the virtues of the free enterprise system. The organization helps to promote positive role models through its classroom use of these adult volunteers and through special events, such as the National Business Hall of Fame. For 30 years, the JA’s National Business Hall of Fame has honored the nation’s most distinguished businessmen and women for outstanding contributions to free enterprise. This year, six legends of industry were selected to enter the Hall of Fame: Hans W. Becherer,(former) chairman, Deere & Com- pany; Edward Donley, (former) chairman, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.; Herbert Kelleher, chairman of the board, Southwest Airlines; Frank Shrontz, chair- man emeritus, The Boeing Company; Robert B. Wegman, Chairman, Wegmans Food Markets; and Joseph Wharton (1826-1909), philanthropist and founder of The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. America’s top business leaders choose each year’s National Business Hall of Fame laureates. The 1 Over the last 30 years, more than 200 business leaders have been honoredby the JA National BusinessHall of Fame. 2004 inductees will be added to an exhibit of more than 200 laureates on permanent display at The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. In the Achievement/ Harris Interactive poll, the president was followed by Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey, with each individual named by four percent of students as the number-one role model. Condoleezza Rice and Jennifer Lopez followed at two percent each. Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating young people about business, economics and free enterprise.
