In fact, more than 31,000 Americans chose to study abroad in the United Kingdom last year, making it the most popular foreign destination for U.S. students. If you’re planning foreign study, the British Council USA, an international cultural and edu- cational organization, suggests considering several factors including language, program type and financial commitments. Study abroad can really expand a student’s horizons. e Are you comfortable with a foreign language? You may prefer classes in English. What’s the best program for you? Options include yearlong, semester or summer pro- crams. It’s even possible to enroll directly in a foreign university. How will you pay? Students who earn credit at their home universities during their time overseas are usually able to apply their financial aid to study abroad. Check with your financial aid office for details.
