; — C=} C=) fp SIC = Ore Lwers 4-H Youth: A Revolutonary Force n Scence (NAPSA)—At 14, Luana Xong, from Merced County, Calforna, has partcpated n a wde varety of actvtes throughout her fve- ‘ year 4-H career, but nothng has ntrgued her more than the 4-H scence programs. For the last two years, Luana has partcpated n the 4-H Natonal Youth Scence Day (NYSD)—an event n whch hundreds of thousands of young peo- ple throughout the world smultaneously conduct a sngle scence experment. Wth aspratons to become a cardovascular surgeon, Luana apprecates her 4-H scence programs, as nvolvement n the currculum and actvtes have helped her become comfortable wth the subject. In 2009, Luana demonstrated the 4-H Natonal Scence Exper- ment for 250 members of her communty. The experment, Bofuel Blast, showcased how cellulose and sugars n plants can be con- verted nto fuel. “My goal was to spread my knowledge to as many people as I could.” As a newcomerto 4-H scence, Brt Stevens from Gbson County, Indana, wll be gettng hs frst taste of 4-H scence at the 2010 4-H Natonal Scence Experment: 4-H:20. At 18, Brt’s favorte 4-H actvtes nvolve showng anmals at fars. But as an asprng archtect, Brt knows the mportance of hav- ng a sold foundaton n the sc- ences. “I am pretty good at scence. People should know the scentfc explanaton about thngs.” Wth plans to partcpate n NYSD agan, Luana thnks t’s mportant for youthslke Brt to get nvolved n 4-H scence. “I am par- tcpatng n 4-H Scence Day agan because I enjoy t so much.
