New Exam Promotes Excellence Of Medical Care

(NAPSA)—Anew program hopes to promote excellence in medical care for children and adolescents. The new examination is part of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) new Program for Maintenance of Certification in Pediatrics’ (PMCP). The computer-based testing format gives the ABP greater flexibility in test administration without compromising test security and integrity. For instance, instead of scheduling exams once or twice a year at certain locations, physicians now will be able to access the exam at a secure Prometric-affiliated testing center located nearest them. The computer-based testing format provides a more realistic and robust testing experience when compared to paper- and pencil-based testing. The testing program is designed to provide assurance to the public that ABP-certified pediatricians and sub-specialists are upto-date with the specialty and continue to be qualified to practice pediatric medicine competently. The ABP will deliver its PMCP general and sub-specialty exams each year, several times a year, via Prometric’s extensive global testing network. Approximately 6,000 examswill be delivered each year. Prometric will begin delivering the ABP’s testing program in November 2002.
