A New Role For Carbon Dioxide (NAPSA)—STORING CARBON—Anew process called carbon sequestration shows great promise for absorbing a significant frac- tion of the carbon dioxide emissions that result from the combustion of fossil fuels and for slowing the rate of climate warming. Scientists say carbon sequestration is a form of carbon storage that can be implemented rapidly. For example forests have the potential to sequester a significant fraction of the global carbon dioxide emissions emitted into the atmosphere.
