Celebrity Designer Vern Yip Transforms Florida Home (NAPSA)—More than 9,000 people entered a recent contest for a chance to have their homes carpeted and have a single room “made over” by celebrity designer Vern Yip, formerly of the hit TV show “Trading Spaces.” The winner, Terry Sprow of Port Charlotte, Fla., received a house full of new STAINMASTER carpet. In addition, Sprow’s living room has undergone a complete transformation, now consisting of a new sectional, custom-upholstered chairs, ottomans and accent tables. The room is also adorned with new accessories including light fixtures and an array of colorful orchids. Sprow received a total of more than $23,000 in home improvements. “Vern’s choices of carpet, furniture and colors were absolutely perfect,” said Sprow. “Vern wasable to capture all the design elements that I requested while incorporating his magical touch. It was amazing to watch his vision cometolife. If I didn’t know this was my home, I would have thought I entered a luxuriousresort.” Sprow’s new STAINMASTER carpet, Meritage by Fabrica International, includes top-of-the-line cushion and incorporates a breezy, leafy pattern. Based on their essays, 25 finalists were chosen and asked to submit one photo of the room to be madeover. Sprow was chosen as the grandprize winner based on his initial essay score and the photo. Twenty-four first prize winners received the book “Trading Spaces: Behind the Scenes,” autographed by Vern Yip.
