Light Web Site Sheds Light On Optical (NAPSA)—“Whyis the sky blue?” If you’ve ever spent any time around young children, you may have been asked this scientific poser—andnot been able to give a satisfactory answer. Fortunately, there’s now a Website that answers this and other optic questions kids may have. A new Website helps children (and their parents) understand the scienceof optics. Thesite is the first of its kind to be dedicated to the education of optic science for grades K to 12. The site, www.OpticsForKids.org, allows students to explore the field of optics through interactive experiments covering such topics as vision and color. Online experiments include color mixing, simulated surgery and reflection/refraction demonstrations. “Our education outreach initiatives are one of the most important and significant ways that OSA(the Optical Society of America) supports the scientific community,” said OSA Executive Director Elizabeth Rogan. “It is important that we continue to develop programsthat challenge young minds and inspire them to become the scientists of tomorrow.” The site also features a unique area dedicated to parents and educators, with more than 30 les- son plans broken down by education level.
