At age 25, Hope Bevilhymer’s right leg was amputated from the knee down, ending a lifetime of difficulty with her bilateral clubfeet. It inspired her to create the “Limbs of Hope Foun- dation,” which collects used prosthetic limbs to donate to amputees in countries with histories of hidden land mines. Bevilhymer’s incredible contri- bution to her community earned her top honors at the Volvofor life Awards, an annual search for and celebration of local heroes. She won a $50,000 charitable donation and Volvo car every three years for the rest of herlife.
