ewoe, notes Celebrating Communities Through Music (NAPSA)—Communities across the country are invited to participate in Continental Harmony, a program launched last year by American Composers Forum to celebrate local cultures, histories and ambitions through music. (eS Aaa eee Continental Harmony gives communities an opportunity to celebrate their culture through music. Continental Harmony links communities with composers to create music that reflects participating communities’ interests. Selected composers spend up to six weeks in residencies in the participating communities—creating new musical worksby collaborating with local civie groups, museums, schools and musical ensembles. The music is then unveiled during local celebrations and performances. “The variety of projects communities propose is phenomenal,” says Linda Hoeschler, executive director of American Composers Forum. “There can literally be something for everyone—folk, musical theatre, jazz, opera, choral and orchestral works.” Individuals and communities interested in participating in Continental Harmony can request a Call for Communities, which details the application process, by calling American Composers Forum at 651-228-1407. Editor's Note: In 2001, the program is open to communities in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsyluania, South Carolina, and South Dakota. Communities in additional states will be invited to participate each year, through 2005.
