For Termites, What’s Old Is New Again (NAPSA)—Theonset of warmer weatherhas brought with it a common problem—termites. As homeowners contact their pest control professional, many of them will discover that the newest, most effective professional termite treatments havea familiar “retro”feel. First introduced half a century ago, liquid termite control is again in vogue, as pest control companies adopt newer, more effective treatments. “The trend in professional termite control is nonrepellent liquid products,” says Tom Kraeutler, host of “The Money Pit,” a nationally syndicated home improvement radio show. “These ‘undetectable’ products are providing the most effective termite control ever—evenbetter than baiting systems.” Researchers agree. In a recent survey, U.S. entomologists were asked which professional termite control they’d use if their own home had an infestation; they overwhelmingly preferred nonrepellent, “undetectable” liquids by a margin of more than two to one over baits. And pest control companies across the U.S. share that preference. In a survey conducted by “Pest Control” magazine, over 70 percent of pest control professionals questioned said they’d treat their own home with a liquid undetectable product if it had a termite infestation. Unlike older products, nonrepellent liquid treatments are undetectable—termites unknowingly forage throughout a treated area, quickly passing the termiticide throughout their population. “This allows for faster control of termites in your home,” comments Kraeutler. “In fact, the leading undetectable product, Termidor, wipes out 100 percent of termites in 90 days—that’s up to six times faster than baiting.” Pest control professionals have noticed that effectiveness, and are enthusiastically recommending undetectable liquids to homeowners. In fact, since their introduction, undetectable liquids have been used to safeguard nearly 3 million homes from termites. Kraeutler continues, “Since 2000, more homes have been treated with undetectable products than any other professional termite treatment—that’s twice as many as the leading bait product.” As manufacturers continue to develop effective termite products, they’re also ensuring that these products are responsible. Just 8 ounces of active ingredient are used in a 100-gallon Termidor treatment. “The misconception among someis that pest control professionals pump thousands of gallons of chemical around your home,” says Kraeutler. “Today, that’s just not the case.
